Future-Proofing California: Our Vision for the BEAD Program

INTUS Smartcities is proud to announce our application to the BEAD program, with a plan to bring critical high-speed fiber internet to nearly 21,000 homes across California. This initiative is about more than just connectivity; it’s about ensuring the long-term prosperity of some of the state’s most unique regions.

A Focus on Heritage and Growth

Our California proposal covers three distinct project areas in Amador, Calaveras, and Merced/Madera counties. We are targeting a diverse landscape, from the historic, rolling hills of Gold Country to the vital agricultural heartland of the Central Valley. These are communities built on heritage and hard work, and they deserve infrastructure that honors their past while powering their future. Our pre-approved applications focus on these historically underserved areas, ensuring they are not left behind in the digital age.

Project by the Numbers

Our commitment to these communities is significant and backed by a detailed plan:

  • Total Project Value: $96,190,485.23
  • BEAD Funding Requested: $72,142,863.92
  • Community Priority: Over 80% of the project is dedicated to connecting unserved and underserved populations.

More Than a Network: A Commitment to California’s Workforce

True investment goes beyond infrastructure. We are actively engaged with Californian legislators, tribes, and local businesses to ensure our projects align with community needs.

Furthermore, through our partnership with the CUTI (Connected Utilities & Training in Infrastructure) Centre, we are committed to local workforce development. This includes prioritizing local hiring for project construction and maintenance, and collaborating with regional stakeholders to establish training programs that create lasting career opportunities.

This project is an investment in opportunity, equity, and the resilient future of California’s communities.
