INTUS Smartcities Partners with Hubble Network, Taps Former NASA JPL Director to Lead Initiative
WILMINGTON, DE
INTUS Smartcities Inc. today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hubble Network, creator of the world’s first satellite-powered Bluetooth network. The partnership will integrate Hubble’s breakthrough satellite IoT connectivity with INTUS Smartcities’ infrastructure technologies (Phosphorus) and the “HERMES” mobile Environment and telecommunications expertise to deliver real-time asset tracking and monitoring solutions for smart cities, defense, emergency response, and enterprise clients.
Hubble Network made history in 2024 as the first company to establish a direct Bluetooth-to-satellite connection. Their technology enables standard Bluetooth devices to communicate with satellites through a simple firmware update—operating at a fraction of the power and cost of traditional cellular IoT solutions. Combined with INTUS Smartcities’ infrastructure asset monitoring and management capabilities, mobile asset technologies, wireless, and satellite communications, this partnership opens new possibilities for global connectivity without traditional infrastructure constraints.
To lead the technical execution of this initiative, INTUS Smartcities has brought on Gael Squibb, former Director of Telecommunications and Mission Operations at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. With over 35 years of experience managing NASA’s Deep Space Network and mission operations for projects including Cassini, Galileo, and Voyager, Squibb provides the specialized expertise needed to fully leverage Hubble’s satellite technology. His background includes work on ad hoc 6G networks for emergency response and transportation security applications.
“This partnership with Hubble Network, combined with the caliber of expertise we have in-house, positions us to deliver connectivity solutions that simply weren’t possible before,” said Dimitris Agouridis, CEO of INTUS Smartcities. “We’re ready to help our clients take advantage of satellite-powered connectivity for their most critical operations. In addition we are glad to rejoin forces with Gael who was instrumental of our HERMES and joint development program with JPL Laboratory/NASA. Gael has served on our company’s Board as Director in the past and we look forward to his technical expertise and guidance”
The collaboration will serve applications across defense and military operations, municipal infrastructure, port and container management, and emergency response—with the option for clients to develop custom, proprietary space programs tailored to their specific requirements.
